How to Remove an Ink Stain from Auto Upholstery (from Fabric and PVC)
Ink stains are a pain and hard to get rid of, also these spots lower the value and beauty of your cars inside, but here is good news for you, a number of homemade remedies effectively wash out these ink stains from your cars upholstery. Steps for removing Ink from Fabric and PVC:

1. Blot excess ink instantaneously.

Because onece the stain gets old it’s hard to get rid of, use a dry towel or a paper towel to put a little pressure on the ink stain area, removing as much ink as you can starting from the outside and moving towards the center, which will keep the stain from spreading. Be careful not to rub or scrub which can spread the stain into the fibers more deeply, hence blot gently.

2. Try isopropyl rubbing alcohol.

Ink stains when rubbed with alcohol can be removed. 90% isopropyl alcohol is usually preferred, but if not available go for 70% . Firstly before you apply it test it in a less visible place of the car upholstery to see if it won’t damage the material. Apply rubbing alcohol first on a clean white piece of cloth, don’t pour on the stain directly. Next dab the ink stain with the cloth with care. Don’t rub at it will cause the stain to spread. Repeat the steps all over again till the cloth is not absorbing anymore. Change the cloth when it is drenched with ink. Make sure not to use alcohol on rayon, acetate, or triacetate, as these will stain and will be left with bleach-like spots on treatment with alcohol.

3. Use vinegar on the ink stain.

The acidic characteristics make it remove stains and best thing it’s safe to use, very gentle on hands and also environment friendly. For this, combine a tablespoon of dish washing soap and two teaspoons of white vinegar in a water cup. With a soft cloth dab the solution on the stained area and rub the area gently. Leave the solution on for about ten minutes and then wipe it awaywith use of cold water and finally rinse the affected area, then repeat the above steps.

 

4. Try hairspray.

Hairspray can be an effective ink remover, spray a little of the hairspray over the top and then fastly wipe away gently, with a clean, dry cloth. Repeat till the ink has gone.

 

5. Try a commercial stain remover. 

A variety of cleaning products are available in the market which should help to remove the stain from the fabric and leave your upholstery clean. You can try the following products: Oxi-Clean, Dry-cleaning solvent, Kaboom or Motsenbocker’s Liftoff

 

6. Rinse the area thoroughly by using clean water.

After having used a cleaning product try to go back over it with clean water, re-blot the area thoroughly with cloth wet with water, dampening it gently. Extract maximum water by putting a dry towel on that area.

7. Repeat cleaning process if need be.

After the area has dried re-examine the stain in a few hours, if you find the need to then repeat the steps above till the area is completely cleaned up.
